Akdamar Island is in Gevaş, town of Van. In the island, there is a church which is built by Armenians.
Akdamar Island is beautiful in every season.If you go in spring, you see the flowers of almonds. In summer, by cultural excursions, you can also swim in the clean water and taste almonds.
The island is 10 km far away from the shore.For to go to the scaffold, you can use minibus which goes in front of our hotel.You will reach there in 40 minutes.
Boats go to the island any time of day. The boats move when it's full.Boat trip takes 20 minutes.After spending much time you want on the island,you can leave the island at any time with the boats which are waiting on the port.Last boat leaves on 18:00
Akdamar Church
Akdamar Church is located in the southeast of the island.You can see the church from Gevaş.
The church walls is rich in figures.When you look closely to the church walls, you can see the figures of Van monster, famous by it's size.Apart from that,there are scenes taken from the Bible and the Torah.Pomegranates and grapes represents fertility,they processed every wall in abundance.According to rumors,in old times,figures were decorated with emerald eyes.But they have stolen by visitors.
